Old stone, old boards
The mill-town terraces of Glodwick, Werneth and Hathershaw, and the stone weavers’ cottages towards Lees and Springhead, were built before domestic electricity existed. Whatever board is in there was added later and often not touched since. Rewireable boxes are the norm, and the earthing arrangements in older stone properties are the thing we check hardest in your photos.
Oldham also has a strong landlord market, and council enforcement of the 2020 electrical safety regulations here is real. A good number of our OL jobs are 28 day EICR remedials where the board, the bonding and the tails all get sorted in one visit.
