The patch, borough by borough
Greater Manchester is not one housing stock, it is about six. What we find behind the cupboard door in a Littleborough weaver's cottage is nothing like a Bramhall semi or a Hulme new-build, and the board we fit reflects that. Here is the whole patch, what we usually walk into, and where to read more.
City terraces with cellar-head boards, Wylex rewireables in the 60s estates, and a lot of converted flats sharing one supply. Manchester guide →
Cellar heads and once-rewired terraces, plus Walkden and Worsley semis on 1980s plastic boards. Salford guide →
Our home borough. Interwar semis in Urmston and Sale, Victorian villas in Altrincham, and everything in between. Trafford guide →
1930s semi country. Heatons, Cheadle, Bramhall and Hazel Grove, mostly on a 1975 rewire with the original box left behind. Stockport guide →
Stone terraces with tight cupboards and long cable runs, and Chadderton and Royton semis failing on RCD protection. Oldham guide →
Hyde, Ashton, Denton and Stalybridge. Mill terraces and 1990s boards that inspectors now code for plastic enclosures. EICR remedials →
Prestwich and Whitefield semis, Ramsbottom stone cottages, and a lot of split-load boards from the mid-2000s. Consumer units →
Heywood and Middleton estates, Littleborough terraces. Often a board change plus new main bonding to gas and water. Old fuse boxes →
Mill terraces and interwar semis, plus a steady run of landlord EICR remedials around the town centre. Bolton guide →
Not every town in a borough has its own page. We write one only where we do enough work in that housing stock to say something you cannot get from a directory. Coverage is the list above, not the page count.
Does it cost more if you have further to drive?
£449 in Ramsbottom is £449 in Chorlton. The price is driven by circuit count and whether earthing and bonding need bringing up to standard, never by mileage.
Inside the M60 we can usually be there within two or three working days. The outer edges, Rochdale, Ramsbottom and the Tameside hills, tend to land later the same week when we group jobs.
Wilmslow, Knutsford, Glossop and New Mills come up often and we take them. Anything beyond that we will tell you straight rather than book and cancel.
