How much does a fuse box replacement cost in Chadderton?
The fixed prices are £449 up to 6 circuits, £549 up to 10 and £695 for 11 or more. An unaltered Chadderton semi is usually £549; one with a loft conversion or a rear extension often has enough circuits for the £695 package. Extras such as earthing or new meter tails are priced from your three photos.
How a price is built →Semis that kept growing
Much of Chadderton was built between the wars, in long runs of semis and short terraces with front gardens. The rewire most of them had in the 60s or 70s left a Wylex or MEM box under the stairs with six or eight ways. Since then, owners have added loft conversions, rear kitchen extensions, garage supplies and electric showers, and each one either filled a spare way or arrived with its own switchfuse screwed to the wall nearby.
The result, when we open the cupboard, is often a box, a switchfuse and a small add-on board, each from a different decade, none with RCBO protection. Pulling all of it into one board tidies the cupboard, gives every circuit its own protection, and leaves spare ways for whatever the house needs next. Your photos tell us how many circuits there really are, so the package is right first time.
When the builders are in
A lot of our Chadderton work comes during or just after building work. A loft conversion or extension needs signing off, and the electrician on the build finds the existing board cannot take the new circuits or falls short of current regulations. Rather than add yet another switchfuse to the wall, owners bring us in to replace the consumer unit so the new circuits land on a modern board from the start.
We fit the board, test every circuit dead and live, and issue an Electrical Installation Certificate with Part P notification, which building control and your builder will both want to see. Book us before the plasterers finish if you can, because a board change is easier while the cupboard is still open. We do not do the extension wiring itself, only the board.

Usually yes. If the existing board is old or full, replacing it before the new loft circuits are connected means they go straight onto RCBO protection and one certificate covers the board. Send photos early and we will fit around your builder’s timetable.
Quite different. Central Oldham terraces tend to be stone, older and smaller, with earthing we check carefully. Chadderton semis are brick and interwar, with more circuits and more add-ons, which usually means the £549 or £695 package here rather than £449.
It comes off the wall. The garage circuit moves onto its own RCBO in the new board, as long as it passes testing on the day. If the cable out to the garage fails, we show you the result and price the fix before doing anything to it.
